Into the forest we’ll follow Discovery
Episode Synopsis: Bypassing Starfleet’s orders, Lorca uses the USS Discovery crew’s ultimate asset, the ship itself, in an effort to end the war with the Klingons once and for all.
This week’s episode, titled Into the Forest I Go, will be the show’s mid-season finale. It was originally slated to air in January 2018 but later moved up to November instead, will conclude last week’s episode buildup. However we can still expect it to be a cliffhanger in it’s own, ensuring viewers return to the series in January.
During the last After Trek show, co-executive producer Ted Sullivan made a bold comment, saying episode 9 is “it’s Balance of Terror good”. The episode Sullivan referenced is from The Original Series and is considered one of the best Star Trek episodes of all time. That’s very high praise, but Sullivan is known for being very enthusiastic about the show. For media that have watched the advance screening, it’s also compared to The Best of Both Worlds Part 1 as well. That episode, also considered to be one of the all-time best Star Trek episodes, solidified Star Trek: The Next Generation as one of the greatest Trek shows.

Take a look at the teaser for next week’s episode – Into the Forest I Go
The USS Discovery engages in full-on battle with the Klingons while Lt. Stamets struggles with the physical and psychological strain endured because of the demands of the USS Discovery’s role in the war.
Burnham fights with General Kol aboard the Klingon vessel. There’s little doubt that she’s going to let her emotions get the better of her, if even just momentarily, as Kol wears the Starfleet delta of slain Captain Georgiou on his chest.

There’s no question that the spore drive jumps are having some kind of impact on Lt. Stamet’s health both physically and mentally. He’s gone from being an overly pedantic individual in earlier episodes to a relaxed, easy going person that comes off as being high.
Will we get to see to what end and degree his spore drive-induced health problems take him?

Dr. Culber has been keeping a close eye on his partner’s health. He may put his foot down in the upcoming episode.

Michael Burnham has had a lot taken away from her ever since the Klingons have shown up. Her human emotions are certain to show through.

General Kol has essentially positioned himself at the top of Klingon power by distributing cloaking technology to whomever will fall under his command.

Be sure to check back often. We’ll be adding more photos and videos from the mid-season finale as they become available to us. Into the Forest I Go premieres on Sunday November 12th at 8:30pm on CBS All Access, 8:00PM on Space (Canada), and on Netflix on Monday November 13th.
