Jonathan Frakes to Direct Discovery Episode
Over the last week, EW has been slowly releasing a series of news items about the upcoming CBS All Access tv series, Star Trek Discovery. This time, they’ve released a tidbit about Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Jonathan Frakes directing an episode of Discovery.
As most Star Trek fans already know, Jonathan Frakes is already a franchise veteran director. He has directed episodes of TNG, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. He has also directed two Star Trek movies – First Contact and Insurrection.

The episode that Frakes is slated to direct will be some time during Discovery‘s first season.
Writer-producer Gretchen J. Berg and series showrunner Aaron Harberts both spoke of Frake’s commission on Discovery, but provided very little detail.
Berg said that “Jonathan Frakes will rejoin the Trek world with Discovery. He’s a fantastic guy and great director.” Aaron Harberts, speaking of the actors involved in Discovery mentioned that the “cast is dying to work with him.”
Star Trek Discovery is slated to air on CBS All Access (USA), Space & CraveTV (Canada), and Netflix (rest of world) this coming September.
