New Star Trek Discovery Trailer
We have a new Star Trek Discovery trailer, and it looks amazing. The trailer was originally aired during the Discovery panel at San Diego Comic-Con before an audience of thousands of expectant fans.
The Comic-Con trailer delivers our best look at the production quality, plot, and characters of the new Star Trek series, airing this September. Read more of our coverage of the SDCC Star Trek Discovery panel.
As expected, the Klingons appear to be taking on a primary role in the series, being featured heavily in at least the show’s first season.
The trailer suggests that the Klingon Empire, who has remained mostly unseen for hundreds of years, will be the focus of the show. Protagonist Commander Michael Burnham of the USS Shenzhou, appears to be, at least in part, responsible for bringing Starfleet to the brink of war with a Klingon Empire on the cusp of uniting the great Houses.
Alex Kurtzman, executive producer of Discovery, has stated that the show will take on the look of a theatrical release. There’s no doubt that was achieved in this trailer, which encompasses a number of episodes over the first season. Star Trek Discovery is reported to have an estimated budget of $7-8 million per episode. Not quite a movie budget, but that certainly places is among the most expensive television productions ever produced.
Star Trek Discovery airs on CBS All Access (USA) on September 24, Space/CraveTV (Canada), and Netflix (rest of world).
