Sites Claiming Season 2 Renewal
With the highly-anticipated Star Trek Discovery premiere coming later this month, fans are learning tidbits about season two of the series. Some of the details being revealed are that season two will likely focus on the aftermath of the Klingon War.
Over the last day or two, a few websites have been reporting that Star Trek: Discovery has been renewed for season two already. This before season one has even premiered.
We reached out to CBS for confirmation on the renewal decision but were told the show has not yet been renewed for a second season. “We haven’t even premiered season 1 yet” a CBS representative tells us. “[N]o official decisions have been made or announced.”
So where did the rumor come from? Our CBS contact says “I think this website just misunderstood comments from our producers who said ‘yes they know what season 2 storylines are’ even though there is no pick up yet.”
CBS is likely referring to the series showrunners speaking of some of the ideas they have for season two, should the show get renewed.
Star Trek Discovery airs later this month on CBS All Access (USA), CraveTV (Canada) and Netflix (rest of the world).
