CraveTV Responds to Fan Demands
Last week, NCC-1031.COM wrote about the delays with Bell Media’s CraveTV OTT streaming service’s announcement of the Star Trek Discovery television series premiere date. When we last contacted CraveTV representatives, we were told that an announcement would be made in the coming weeks, putting it very close to the air dates.
It was commonly-believed that CraveTV would wait for the first season of Discovery to air before launching the streaming show all at once. However we now know that’s not the case (we here at NCC-1031.COM always thought CraveTV would stream the new Star Trek series weekly, like Netflix will be doing in 188 countries).
CraveTV announced today that there will be a special Star Trek Discovery two episode premiere streaming on September 25th beginning at 8 p.m. ET following its linear premiere on September 24th on CTV and Space channels.
Similar to CBS’ All Access in the USA, CraveTV will also be streaming the official Star Trek Discovery after show, Talking Trek. The first episode of that streams September 25th at 10 p.m. ET. New episodes will then air every week at 9 p.m. ET – just after the weekly Discovery episode.
In addition to the series premiere on the 25th, CraveTV will also be doing something special in the lead-up. Building Star Trek will stream on September 22nd, a special program featuring scientists, actors, and cultural leaders exploring the phenomenon of the series. In addition, Trek Nation will also stream that same day. Trek Nation is a documentary featuring Rod Roddenberry, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and producer of Star Trek Discovery, as he explores the legacy of his father.
Full details on the CraveTV launch can be found on Bell Media’s press release.
